By Natanya Toomes After recently making an ad campaign that featured only black models in an attempted to prey on their dwindling black audience, Gucci is under fire yet again but this time for knocking off black designer Dapper Dan’s design from the 80’s. Some call it paying homage to the Harlem designer, but wouldn’t that require actually…you know…giving credit? With no recognition to Dapper Dan, it’s needless to say this proves yet again that whenever black culture creates and revolutionize style trends, the rich and the white aren’t too far behind to hijack those aesthetics for their own gain. What can we say; white people are great at creating things…that were already invited.
Are we surprised…really?
